The CFPB, along with the State of New York, sued Northern Resolution Group, LLC, Douglas MacKinnon, Mark Gray, Enhanced Acquisitions, LLC, and Delray Capital, LLC in US District Court for the Western District of New York. The CFPB suit alleged that the defendants “took in ‘tens of millions of dollars’ a year by harassing, threatening and deceiving consumers.” The suit further alleged that MacKinnon and Gray, “collected debt consumers did not owe” and that in some cases they quoted customers at “more than 600 percent of the real debt amount.” The suit also accused the defendants of falsely threatened customers with “legal action” or falsely accused them of “committing crimes.”
