“Employees at the CFPB want answers after discovering a bureau official once worked for an antigay hate group”, The Advocate Reports

See must read September 18 story from The Advocate, ‘Is a Consumer Protection Exec Quietly Dismantling LGBTQ Protections?’  Reaction from Derek Martin, Director of Allied Progress:

“When Director Kraninger was confronted with the fact that one her top aides used to conduct trainings for an anti-LGBT hate group, she didn’t fire Mr. Watkins or launch an investigation to determine whether consumers’ interests have been compromised. Instead, Kraninger rushed to his side. Adding insult to injury, Kraninger just gave Watkins real power that could be used to provide businesses safe harbor if they discriminate against LGBT consumers and others. This came after Kraninger’s decision to keep another top aide on staff for over five months overseeing the CFPB’s lending discrimination matters despite his history of racist and sexist writings. Is it any wonder that some CFPB employees apparently feel that Kraninger’s tolerance of past staff associations with hate has promoted a ‘hostile work environment’? What else has Kraninger been willing to tolerate?”
