Interactive Website Launched Highlighting Consumer Bureau Victories State-By-State

Tool Tracks Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s Efforts to Protect Consumers from Big Banks, Predatory Lenders, and Other Financial Institutions

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Allied Progress launched the “Consumer Bureau Action Tracker,” a new tool to track the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB) enforcement actions against big banks, credit card companies, and other financial institutions that have preyed on consumers.

Visit cfpbactiontracker.com to View the Tracker

The launch of the tracker comes just days after the seven-year anniversary of the signing of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act and the six-year anniversary of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau opening its doors.

“The Consumer Bureau has played a pivotal role in bringing justice to consumers over the past six years. They have cracked down on big banks, payday lenders, and other financial bad actors and put an end to the irresponsible practices that caused the great recession that cost so many Americans their jobs, their homes, and their savings,” said Karl Frisch, executive director of Allied Progress.

He continued, “Lawmakers in the pockets of big banks have spread misinformation in their efforts to eliminate the Consumer Bureau, but the truth is in the data. Our new interactive Consumer Bureau Action Tracker shows just how much the Bureau has put back into the pockets of Americans. In just six years, the Consumer Bureau has taken $12 billion from predatory financial institutions and returned it to the more than 29 million Americans they ripped off.”

The new interactive tracker has plain-language descriptions of every enforcement action, and is fully searchable by numerous fields, including: state, target corporation, topic, status, institution type, settlement/fine amount, and the number of consumers compensated. The tracker will be updated as new enforcement actions are announced.

While the CFPB has delivered for consumers, President Trump, the Republican-led Congress, and Wall Street special interests are working to gut the agency and roll back fundamental consumer and market protections established in the wake of the Great Recession. Allied Progress is committed to defending the Bureau against any effort to undermine its mission.
