Kraninger Halts Mulvaney’s Petty Ploy to Change CFPB Name

Statement on Kraninger’s Halting of CFPB Name Change

Allied Progress released the following statement after receiving an internal email sent to CFPB staff by Kathy Kraninger indicating she will halt former Acting Director Mick Mulvaney’s effort to change the Bureau’s name:

“Mick Mulvaney’s silly, wasteful, and confusing fight to change the CFPB’s name was little more than a petty ploy to undermine the Bureau’s hard-won reputation as a champion for consumers,” said Karl Frisch, executive director of Allied Progress.

He continued, “Kathy Kraninger was right to fix Mulvaney’s name change disaster. Now she needs to fix his personnel and policy disasters by dismissing Eric Blankenstein and reversing Mulvaney’s other changes at the Bureau that have stacked the deck against consumers.”
