Sinclair’s Weekly Worst: Did you know behind every successful terrorist there is a woman?

Every week Allied Progress will share a selection of Sinclair Broadcast Group’s “Must Runs” segments. These are biased segments that Sinclair’s headquarters famously mandates that all of their 191 stations run. If Sinclair’s merger with Tribune is approved, a total of 233 stations – reaching 72 percent of American households – will be forced to air these segments every week.

Journalists at Sinclair object to their airing. Experts call them propaganda. Allied Progress watches them…so you don’t need to.

This week’s Sinclair Low-Lights…

Featured Low-Light: “It turns out that behind every successful radical Islamic terrorist is a woman.” Sharyl Attkinson’s weekly episode of Full Measure on Sunday featured a segment called “female jihadis,” where she states that behind many terrorist attacks is a wife or mother “playing important if even indirect role in jihad.” “Preventing attacks means spotlighting not just the men grabbing the headlines, but the women behind them,” she says.

Attkinson rounded out her episode by defending the alt-right social media platform “Gab,” chastising the media for “asking the wrong questions” about Trump and being too “confrontational,” and giving cover to the Trump administration over its Puerto Rico response, with a segment highlighting “how bad things were for the US territory before the storm hit.”

Runner up: On Friday, Boris Epshteyn dedicated his segment to defending Trump’s decision to end CSR payments to health insurance companies. Falsely asserting that Obamacare “has been on a downward spiral for a long time” and is “dying,” Epshteyn calls Trump’s move “a smart negotiating tactic to force Congress to act on health care reform.”

He closes: “The President’s actions may appear to cause more uncertainty, but in fact they are calculated steps towards a long-term solution for our country.”

Epshteyn also featured an interview this week with Senator Lindsey Graham, where the senator calls the Iran deal “the dumbest deal since Munich, since they let Hitler run wild in 1930s.”

Happy Friday!
