TOMORROW: Join Allied Progress and Politico for A Discussion on the Sinclair-Tribune Merger

Join Us In Person Or Via Livestream To Learn More About The Impact Of This Unprecedented Merger

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Join us TOMORROW, Wednesday, October 25 at 8:30 AM at the Union Station Columbus Club, for a discussion with POLITICO and Allied Progress, covering the implications of the Sinclair-Tribune merger. If the merger is approved, Sinclair’s right-wing content would reach 72 percent of U.S. households, hampering competition and driving up costs for consumers. At the event, thought leaders and policy makers will gather to hear about the state of our media, and they’ll engage in conversation about Sinclair’s attempt to establish the largest local television news monopoly in American history.

RSVP here to attend.

Can’t make it in person? A live stream of the event will be available at https://www.facebook.com/AlliedProgress/

“The Sinclair-Tribune merger would create a pipeline to spread misinformation and right-wing propaganda directly into the homes of millions of Americans, all while cutting back on local new coverage,” said Allied Progress Executive Director Karl Frisch.

Frisch continued, “Sinclair has a long track record of deliberately misleading viewers. Now Sinclair wants to expand its reach into nearly two-thirds of U.S. households by merging with Tribune – which is far from being in the public interest. This is just one of the many reasons the Federal Communications Commission should reject the merger.”

The Trump administration’s Federal Communications Commission recently made a rule change that opens the door to more aggressive mergers of media companies.

Join POLITICO for a timely and important conversation about the future of the news business and how the media are responding to the rise of partisan tribalism. We will explore the implications of the FCC’s new policy and of the Sinclair merger in particular.

At a time of rising political polarization, disrupted business models and proposed media mergers, are we witnessing the end of journalism as we’ve known it?
