Trump CFPB Director Kraninger to audience of bankers: “You are really helping drive the agenda”
As reported by Politico, during a conference hosted by the Bank Policy Institute, CFPB Director Kathy Kraninger told an audience of bankers “you are really helping drive the agenda.” Consumer watchdog group Allied Progress director Derek Martin made the following statement in response:
“In New York City today, Director Kraninger finally admitted that she and Donald Trump are letting the financial services industry drive the agenda at CFPB, ahead of the concerns of ordinary consumers. In the wake of these remarks and recent revelations that payday lenders have bought access to the President it has become clear what this administration’s consumer policy truly is: as long as industry writes the checks, this administration will let them write the laws, too.”
